| The Lewis river, named for an early Woodland settler Adolphus Lee Lewes, sits nestled in the foothills of the Cascade range just 20 minutes north of Portland,Oregon. Its waters come from far into the Cascade range draining from both Mt. Adams (Pahto) and Mt. St. Helens (Loowit). Before the dams were installed the river held well over ninety miles of rich breeding ground for salmon and steelhead. The river currently has about eleven miles of salmon/steelhead producing water to fish with two hatcheries supporting healthy runs of keepers throughout the entire year as well as an occasional record Tiger Muskie. The Lewis river is one of the premiere fishing rivers in the country with both of the major fishing rod manufacturers(Lamiglas/G.Loomis) located in Woodland. The three reservoirs above Merwin dam(Merwin,Yale,Swift) all have excellent Kokanee fishing as well. We fish the Lewis River for Spring Salmon or 'Springers.' The Spring Salmon run on the Lewis River is from April through June. We also Fish the Lewis River for Summer and Winter Run Steelhead. There are many points of interest nearby the Lewis River, including Mt. St. Helens, the Columbia River and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
